Grammar ~ Linking Sentences to Express Additions

Today we are continuing our lessons on linking sentences and we have the topic of expressing additions in complex sentences. Please find this on the Linking Sentences to Express Additions page.

Soon we are to finalise our lessons on linking sentences though. I do hope that by now you can rely on your growing portfolio of communicative grammar concepts and that you are getting more and more confident in using these points in your daily practice.

Writing ~ Elegant and Effective Writing

Following our previous lesson on propositions that give meaning to our sentences, we are now looking into what makes sentences effective, as well as elegant. As agreed by linguists all around, sentences should be formulated to be a pleasure to the ear, but also to the reader and we are learning tricks of the trade for achieving exactly that.

You will find today's lesson on the Elegant and Effective Writing page. I hope it all makes sense and you can think of some good examples from the prose you're read recently.

English for Work ~ Highly Effective Teachers

Today I returned with a valuable addition to one of our previous lesson on the professions of teachers vs. tutors.

You can find this lesson about great teachers and how to be(come) one on the Highly Effective Teachers page. I wonder how many of you can boast about having had a great teacher during your school years - I for one, can't forget some of my old teachers and also keep in touch with some of them!

This is it for now, my friends!

I hope you find this information useful and not too confusing. Even though you're at the stage of building on it, have patience at this point in your learning and you'll be able to reap the fruit of your work later on, whichever aspect of our lessons you are concentrating on.

Please feel free to comment and suggest your ideas by replying to this email - I look forward to hearing from you. If you wish to chat either with me or with other members worldwide, go to My English Club .

All the best from me until next time,

Lucia da Vinci
