March 10, 2016
Hello,

Greetings and General Information

My dear friends, let me present you my apologies for having delayed this issue such a long time. I was ill recently, down with a nasty flu and I also had to travel - I made it to Barcelona after all. Well, this is it... I'm glad I'm back in force again, so let's get on with our business today.

A warm welcome to our new subscribers! I wish you will find My English Club fun and instructive and I look forward to welcome you as a new valued member soon. Read, learn and communicate around the world!

You and your friends can always subscribe individually through the form on My English Club . If anybody mentions to you that they are interested in receiving it, please tell them this, with thanks. Of course, you can also unsubscribe at any point, by using the link at the end of any issue of the e-zine, should you wish - no questions asked.

Until I'll have the time to write my e-books from these courses, you can enjoy our past lessons for free, as follows:

Grammar ~ Cross-Reference and Omission

Today we have an new topic, which you will find useful for your TOEFL reading and writing exams, as well as other assignments you will have in the interim. Mastering cross-referenced meaning is also good for achieving a more fluent spoken English. Please find this lesson on the Cross-Reference and Omission page.

We don't have an exercise for this lesson just now, but I think one would be useful for you, so I shall write one shortly. Keep visiting the page.

Writing ~ The Arresting Image

How can a writer make a reader perceive abstract ideas better? How can one introduce abstract ideas that will appeal to the reader's senses? Find some examples on The Arresting Image page. With this lesson, we have finished our investigation of various images a writer can use to entertain the readers and keep them hooked. As from next time, we shall start exploring some figures of speech, OK?

English for Travelling ~ Describing a Location

Well, I completely reorganised our lessons for this subject. Today we have the theme of describing a location and I gave you an example on Describing a location page. Starting from the English for Travelling page, you can check some of the lessons we have done previously, such as: Inviting a friend to visit you and Activities for a visitor . Enjoy and make good use of the exercises I prepared for you on those pages. We shall continue to develop this topic; your suggestions will be much appreciated - share them with us when you have a minute.

This is it for now, my friends!

I hope you find this information useful and not too confusing. Even though you're at the stage of building on it, have patience at this point in your learning and you'll be able to reap the fruit of your work later on, whichever aspect of our lessons you are concentrating on.

Please feel free to comment and suggest your ideas by replying to this email - I look forward to hearing from you. If you wish to chat either with me or with other members worldwide, go to My English Club .

All the best from me until next time,

Lucia da Vinci
